July 2022 | Lithium Americas’ Lithium Technological Development Center opens in Reno. @peopleofredmountain have been gathering and engaging with other groups the last 3 months to bring awareness to the sacrifices made with lithium mining practices on Numu/ Newe ancestral lands.

Shelly Harjo, a member of the Fort McDermitt Paiute Shoshone Tribe, wrote an article on August 15 2022 stating hers and others disapproval of Thacker Pass open-pit lithium mine.
“My ancestral lands do not stop at the reservations borders and I refuse to stand by and watch the tribe be pawns for the public relations department of Lithium Nevada.”
