After almost a full year of service The Solidarity Fridge has expanded its wings to include a @littlefreelibrary (4th photo) and now a community garden with the help of Nevada Plants. For those who are unfamiliar with the name, “Nevada Plants is a new, boots on the ground community based tree planting nonprofit”. Their first planting started in February of this year and they’re showing no signs of slowing down.

Dia De Los Muertos at Lorenzi Park
November 1st and 2nd are known as Dia De Los Muertos / Day of The Dead. A Mexican tradition celebrated across the world as a day of remembrance for family, friends and ancestors who’ve passed away. The celebration includes decorating grave sites with flowers, candles and food as well as building “ofrendas” or altars to encapsulate all members they are celebrating / remembering.
As of October 30th, 2020 - The U.S. has renamed November 1st as the National Day of Remembrance for “Americans Killed by Illegal Aliens”. Some people have found this to be very insulting to tradition.

Fuck I.C.E. Protest in Downtown Las Vegas

“Fuck I.C.E. Protest” was set up by members of Las Vegas Liberation and African Movement LV to honor those who’ve suffered in custody. With recent reports of hysterectomies and abuse of children nation wide, the protesters set to hold a peaceful protest and candle lit vigil in front of the Las Vegas Immigration and Customs Enforcement Center on Las Vegas Blvd.

They’ve been organizing fundraisers locally, contributing to Food Not Bombs’ feed the houseless and participating in events that include Indigenous movements, veganism, animal rights and racial justice.
The group also performs as a danza collective.
