Members from Fifth Sun Project + Jingle Dancers Amaya & Jonnette preparing for the march as the sun sets.
“Fuck I.C.E. Protest” was set up by members of Las Vegas Liberation and African Movement LV to honor those who’ve suffered in custody. With recent reports of hysterectomies and abuse of children nation wide, the protesters set to hold a peaceful protest and candle lit vigil in front of the Las Vegas Immigration and Customs Enforcement Center on Las Vegas Blvd.
Members of Fifth Sun started with their ritual smudging and went on to recite prayers for the protection of everyone involved in the peaceful protest that night.
The large group of protesters made their way from the historical Moulin Rouge on the westside of Las Vegas to Downtown Vegas. They stopped in front of various casinos and at the Fremont Street Experience where both residents and tourist couldn’t help but watch the group.
Once the group arrived at the I.C.E. center they had speakers from Las Vegas Liberation, AM and UNLV share some thoughts and feelings about the reports of abuse and the Presidential race. The night ended with dancing from both Fifth Sun and the UNLV jingle dancers.
